Watch D.O.G.S.

WATCH D.O.G.S is a one-of-a kind, school-based father involvement program that works to support education and safety

This program is part of the National Center for Fathering and is involved in more than 4,704 schools and 46 states (as well as China, Canada, Mexico, Puerto Rico, and Barbados)! You can find out more about WATCH D.O.G.S. from the official website. This innovative program focuses on the prevention of violence in our children's schools by using the positive influence of fathers & father-figures for a two-fold purpose:

  1. to provide an unobtrusive fathering presence in schools, and

  2. to be a positive and active role-model for students at their school

At Reed Elementary School, WATCH D.O.G.S (Dads of Great Students) is a program kids love! When father-figures step on campus, the kids can't to see the WatchDOG at morning announcements, lunch, recess, in class, etc., Here's the basics of the program.

  • Each WatchDOG is asked to volunteer at least one full day a year in the school

  • About every 30 minutes you, the WatchDOG, will rotate to a new place in the school. You will see your son/daughter, but it's important to know that you'll engage with other kids, too.

  • Watch D.O.G.S must be registered with LISD as a volunteer
